A Individual Account

An Individual account is intended for individuals or a sole proprietor or partnership that is not registered with CIPC/CIPRO and want to receive payments.

Examples of an Individual account are:

  • A person.
  • Sole proprietorship.
  • Partnership.

 How do I verify my account?

To verify your account, you will need to provide us with the documentation indicated below:

This can either be submitted securely online through your account or faxed to us (Documents must be legible).

1. Proof of identity (What can I use?)

A single document is sufficient, below is a list of examples that could be used:

  • A colour scan of your ID document/passport
  • Or a colour photo of your ID document/passport
  • Or a gray scale certified copy of your ID document/passport (a pure black and white copy is insufficient)

2. Proof of physical address

Please note we can not accept proof of address that is sent to a PO Box address.

A single document is sufficient, below is a list of examples that could be used:

  • Rates and Taxes statement from the municipality or city council reflecting your name and your physical address.
  • Or a utility statement from Telkom / Neotel / Vodacom reflecting your name and your physical address.
  • Or an account statement from Edgars reflecting your name and your physical address.
  • Or a bank account statement reflecting your name and your physical address.
  • Or a credit card statement reflecting your name and your physical address.
  • Or a bond statement reflecting your name and your physical address.
  • Or the first page of residential lease agreement reflecting your name and your physical address.

3. Proof of bank account ownership

Please note that we can not accept an internet banking transaction statement. A scanned paper statement or an electronically monthly statement issued by the bank are acceptable.

A single document is sufficient, below is a list of examples that could be used:

  • Bank account statement showing your name and bank account number.
  • Or a letter from your bank confirming your name and bank account number.
  • Or a cancelled cheque showing your name and bank account number.

 Where do I upload the documents?

  1. Log into your PayFast account.
  2. Select the Account tab.
  3. Click on the red Verify button.
  4. Upload the necessary verification documents to your account.

Our Support team will review your documentation. Account verification usually takes one business day to complete.
