3D Secure in place for all online transactions
Posted by Jonathan S on 03 Mar 2014 10:41

As per PASA (Payments Association of South Africa) mandate, from 28 February 2014, all eCommerce transaction are subject to 3D Secure (aka Verified by Visa / MasterCard SecureCode).

Historically, PayFast has only required 3D Secure by default for transactions over R1,000 and for certain transactions where higher than normal risk was assessed.

As from 28 February though, all transactions will now attempt to go through the 3D Secure process.

As a buyer, please ensure that your card is activated / registered for 3D Secure otherwise it will unnecessarily delay your payment experience. Click here to see more information about Registering your card for 3D Secure.

As a seller, there is nothing which you need to do; your account is already 3D Secure enabled. Consult other articles on our KB to understand more about 3D Secure and how it affects international buyers if such is relevant to you.
